Paia Inn: Surfing

Surfing, the sport of kings, is one of Maui's most popular water sports, and Maui's North Shore is Maui's surfing center.

Paia Inn is located within striking distance of many of Maui's best surfing beaches, from Paia Bay, right out the back gate to Ho'okipa Beach.

Paia Bay

Paia Bay, right in our back yard, is a favorite surf spot for many of Paia's kids. Great waves, nice sandy beach and lots of fun in the sun! Best at 2-4 feet.

Ho'okipa Beach Park

Ho'okipa Beach is the favorite surf break for many of Maui's surfers. Ho'okipa breaks year-round, with the largest, most consistent swells happening in the winter months. Great place for the kids on the inside, and more experienced surfers on the outside breaks. In the winter, Ho'okipa holds up to about 8' surf.

Tavares Bay

Another popular spot with Maui's surfers is Tavares Bay, a scenic little beach about a mile from Paia. Tavares is best on a small swell, 2-3', and is excellent for bodyboarding, as well as surfing.
